After a few years, a computer will normally need a good clean both inside and out. We recommend our subscribers to have their machines fully valeted every two years. This isn’t just cosmetic: the dust and fluff that accumulates inside every machine can produce excessive heat. This is bad for the machine, and can even result in fire.

Our Valet service includes:

• A thorough cleaning of your computer and power supply (inside and out)
• A thorough cleaning of your CD, DVD and/or floppy drives
• Virus scans and removal of any viruses found
• Defragmentation of the data on your hard disk and correction of disk errors
• Discharge and full recharge of the battery
• Updating of your application and driver software

The best time to think about having your computer valeted is when it is not in use, such as when you are on holiday or when the machine is sent to us for repair.

The anti-virus programmes that we recommend are generally very reliable, but no programme will guarantee absolute immunity. Occasionally a computer that has been subject to a major or multiple attack will require top-to-bottom disinfection. This can be carried out either on site or at our workshop.
